Philips the Hub: Future of Lawn Care
A new sustainable system of lawn care products (storage, fertilizer spreader, & waterer) for lawns affected by California's drought conditions.
The Hub is a project that I worked on with Maggie Banks and Max Stein to design for the future of sustainable lawn care products. Lawn care is an unsustainable task but in areas affected by drought conditions, maintaining a green lawn is becoming a thing of the past as homeowners are embracing alternatives for landscaping and gardening.

Through qualitative interviews with friends and family from Southern California, we discovered how California's drought conditions affected their lawn care habits. We also interviewed drought landscape experts from Phipps botanical garden.
Our storage hub acts as a housing unit for the entire system of products. It is intended to encourage and enable new homeowners to take care of a more sustainable lawn alternative.
Desert Garden Backyard
Our system of products will live in the backyard of our user's home. This way it is easily accessible and and lives cohesively in the environment.
Modular Recycled Water Carrier
There are four modular water tanks used to obtain recycled water from recycled water stations, which are popping up in South California. Using recycled water will be a more manageable water solution.
Customizable Turf Grass Fertilizer
Our turf grass fertilizer is customizable to the amount of turfghass the homeowner has in their yard.
We crafted these models out of high density foam, 3D prints, and foamcore.
